Joy to my world

There are so many little things (and big things too) that God has put in life that bring me so much joy.

Christmas music happens to be one of the greatest joy-bringers right now. It makes me think of everything Christmas, which I love! Everything about the season is wonderful: the birth of our Savior, the time with people you love, the cozy response to winter, and the wonderfully joyful music. I can't help but smile. It lifts my spirits. (And makes me want to wear Christmas socks, tacky x-mas sweaters, drink hot chocolate, and sit and read next to my Christmas tree)

But God has also intentionally done things this week that are absolutely unexpected. I went to work today and found out that I don't have to work Black Friday! Even though almost every employee is required to work they gave me the day off, and I didn't even ask for it. Not only do I not have to work one of the craziest days in retail, but I get to be home and spend more time with my family. And I haven't been home since May so this is great news.

I get to celebrate my mom's birthday, thanksgiving, and see friends! Oh God, you know exactly what I need.

But more than anything he has put a friend in my life that I don't know how I have survived without. She is my person. She listens and understands me. She challenges me and encourages me. She has a beautiful heart that is so compassionate, loving, and self-sacrificing. God has taught me so much through our friendship, and I hope that we continue to be friends for a very long time. She's a gem. Thank you God for putting Lindsey in my life.

Sometimes it's easy to get bogged down by life, but God does so much in our lives to get us through those times. Isn't he wonderful? I don't deserve such amazing love, but I am so thankful that Christ made me worthy.
