whew

We currently have half of our office on holiday this week. And it's crazy!

I feel like I've busted my butt these past three days, but I loved every second of it because of the women I was working with, and because I had an active role in helping people. It feels so right to be doing that. I don't know how I can go days without really impacting someone's life. Something in me was made to do this.

And I love the way they work here. For the most part, Europeans in general don't work as much as Americans (although the social service agencies definitely work more than they should most of the time). But they take mini breaks throughout the day.

I'm not talking about coffee breaks that last thirty minutes. I mean little moments of talking to their coworker or making a cup of tea. It makes me smile.

It also reminds me that I don't really know how to take care of myself. I have a tendency to overwork myself, and although these women sometimes do as well, they look out for each other. It's beautiful to see such wonderful women helping people and working in a healthy manner in such a harmonious environment. That makes me smile too.

I'm learning so much, and so fast.

I feel truly confident that this is the profession God intended me to be in. It seems so natural.

It's like watching a European soccer (or football as they say here) player move in a match. Football players in america play in a manner that is choppy. They have to think of what they are going to do, and then translate it into motion.

European football players' bodies seem to already know the movements of the game. There is no process. It's natural. As if their doing something as instinctive as breathing. That's how I feel.

I don't feel hesitation. I just comfort. Try to understand. Find any help I can. Love. And hope that the rest comes through.

I give my best.

I am so grateful that God made me who I am, and that he has made me capable of this. It's brilliant.

I'm so tired. But I feel like I've lived fully today. And that feels good.
